The winter School with Xiamen University has started its work
At the initiative of the Department of Sinology of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, a joint winter school with Xiamen University (China) has begun its work.
More than 30 students from Xiamen University are participating in the educational program, which takes place in an offline format called "Dialogue of Cultures: Kazakhstan and China".
As part of the winter school, students learn about the history of the Great Silk Road, the spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people, their worldview, traditions and customs, national dress, food culture and traditional games. In recent years, the interest of foreign students, especially young people from China, in Kazakh culture has increased significantly. With this in mind, the organizers adapted the program based on a preliminary survey of participants. The faculty of the Department of Chinese Studies prepared informative and informative lectures for students.
The main goal of the program is an in–depth study of cultural, historical and social ties between Kazakhstan and China, strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between the youth of the two countries, developing intercultural communication skills, as well as bringing educational and scientific partnership to a new level.
At the opening ceremony of the winter school, Yerzhan Kerimbayev, Deputy Head of the Department of Sinology for Educational, Methodological and Educational Work, noted that the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China, especially in the field of education and science, has been developing especially dynamically in recent years. According to him, this winter school is a clear result of the stable ties between al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Chinese universities.
Professor Zing from Xiamen University also expressed confidence that this program will make a significant contribution to further strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between the two universities. The winter school will last until January 26.
