Practice-oriented training in production
Lectures and practical classes were held at the Dorplast plant within the framework of the discipline “Chemistry and Technology of Polymers” for the OP “Chemical Technology of Organic Substances”. Under the guidance of teachers of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Organic Substances, Natural Compounds and Polymers at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, P.I. Urkimbayeva and L.E. Agibayeva, and the plant’s production director, A.A. Mikhailov, students got acquainted with the real technological processes of polymer processing: injection molding, extrusion, and plastics recycling. Working in an industrial environment helped students see how theory translates into real industrial practice.
Conducting classes on the basis of the enterprise complies with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs):
SDG 1 - Poverty eradication. A lecture and a practical lesson on safe waste recycling were held.
SDG 11 — Sustainable cities and human settlements: plastics recycling and the use of recycled materials contribute to the formation of an environmentally sound urban environment;
SDG 17 — Partnership for sustainable development: the university’s interaction with industrial enterprises strengthens the link between science, education and production.
Such classes form students’ professional skills, help students better understand production processes and see prospects for professional development in the field of polymer processing.
