The round table on the adaptation of plant ecosystems to climate change and the sustainable use of biological resources was organized within the framework of SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

On January 15, a round table was held at the Department of Botany and Agroecology, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, entitled “Adaptation of Plant Ecosystems to Climate Change and Sustainable Use of Bioresources in Arid Regions.” During the discussion, issues related to the impact of climate change on terrestrial ecosystems, biodiversity conservation, and the rational use of medicinal plants under arid conditions were addressed. The topic of the round table corresponded to the priorities of SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

The event was attended by 10 members of the academic staff and 15 doctoral students. As part of the round table, Gulzat Kanatkyzy Kairanova, a third-year Phd doctoral student of the Department of Botany and Agroecology, presented research findings on the topic “Assessment of the Current State of Zygophyllum fabago L. Cenopopulations in the Ili-Balkhash Region,” conducted under the supervision of Assem Tleuzhanovna Mamurova, Candidate of Biological Sciences and Associate Professor.
