Ties with Jiaotong University will expand

A meeting with a delegation from Shanghai Jiaotong University was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for further development of scientific and educational cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.

Speaking at the meeting, Board Member – Vice Rector for Research and Innovation Margulan Ibraimov noted that Kazakhstan and China have entered a new stage of strategic partnership. According to him, today cooperation in the fields of science, education and technology not only strengthens bilateral ties, but also becomes an important tool for shaping a sustainable and peaceful future. In this context, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a key platform for scientific diplomacy, bringing together scientists, engineers and students from Kazakhstan, China and Central Asian countries.

It was also noted that KazNU maintains close cooperation with 94 higher education institutions and organizations of the People's Republic of China. Academic mobility programs, joint research projects and educational programs are being successfully implemented within the framework of the signed agreements. Currently, 2018 students from China are studying at KazNU.

In turn, Zhang Zhaogo, Vice President of Shanghai Jiaotong University, thanked for the warm welcome and noted the high scientific and educational potential of his university. He stressed that the university holds leading positions in international rankings and is among the world's Top 100. According to him, the university is a world leader in a number of educational areas and scientific disciplines, in particular in the fields of engineering and natural sciences, medicine, materials science and information technology.

In addition, the guest of honor highly appreciated the level of partnership between the two leading universities and confirmed his readiness to expand joint initiatives in the field of science and education.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the further development of bilateral cooperation, the implementation of joint projects and the strengthening of academic ties, and identified priority areas for bringing mutually beneficial partnership to a new level.
