A Spiritual and Educational Lecture “The Legacy of Hakim Abai” Was Held
On January 26, 2026, a spiritual and educational lecture titled “The Legacy of Hakim Abai” was held at the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies. The lecture was organized by Ershat Ardak, a first-year PhD student of the Translation Studies program. Faculty members and students took part in the event.
The purpose of the lecture was to promote the rich spiritual heritage of Hakim Abai Kunanbayev, to foster national consciousness among young people through his philosophical ideas, and to emphasize moral and ethical values.
During the lecture, in-depth discussions were held on the themes of knowledge, labor, justice, and human nature reflected in Abai’s Words of Edification and poetic works. Special attention was also paid to the linguistic and cultural challenges encountered in the process of translating Abai’s Words of Edification into Chinese. In addition, rare manuscripts related to Abai’s legacy from the collection of the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan were presented.
The lecture was informative and well received by the participants. The event contributed to the spiritual development of young people and increased their interest in national values.
