KazNU held an open educational hour entitled "Measures to Prevent Human-Caused Pollution of the Marine Ecosystem." Objective: Conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development within the framework of SDG 14.

As part of their teaching practice and in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 14), on February 2, 2026, second-year undergraduate students majoring in Biomedicine (6B05108) at KazNU, under the guidance of L.B. Umbetyarova, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine, and Neuroscience, held an open educational hour entitled "Measures to Prevent Human-Caused Pollution of the Marine Ecosystem."

The goal of the open educational hour was to discuss important measures to prevent human-caused pollution of the marine ecosystem. The event focused on ecosystem issues, human activities, and the sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources.

The undergraduate students presented a presentation on the topic of the educational hour, which focused on measures to prevent human-caused pollution of the marine ecosystem. Students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions and sharing their thoughts.

 

The event was attended by representatives of various groups:

- Second-year students of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, majoring in Biomedicine;

- Faculty members of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine, and Neuroscience of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, PhD L.B. Umbetyarova; and doctoral student Nazym Isayeva.

The educational hour concluded with a quiz to reinforce the acquired knowledge. The quiz questions covered measures to prevent human-caused pollution of the marine ecosystem. The students demonstrated a high level of knowledge and demonstrated active participation.
