On November 18, 2025, Aliya Ulanbekovna Gabdullina held a pre-defense of her PhD dissertation in the "8D05101 – Biology" program. The research topic was "Coleoptera Insects (Insecta, Coleoptera) of the Katon-Karagay State National Park."
The dissertation is devoted to the study of the ecological and faunistic characteristics of Coleoptera insects in one of the largest protected areas in the East Kazakhstan region. The work combines taxonomic analysis with an assessment of species' ecological status, which is important for biodiversity monitoring and the protection of natural ecosystems.
Scientific Supervisor: Rustem Khasenovich Kadyrbekov, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Chief Researcher at the Institute of Zoology of the Katon-Karagay State National Park. The social and scientific significance of this work in the context of the SDGs:
• SDG 4 – Quality Education: Train highly qualified specialists in entomology and biodiversity conservation;
• SDG 15 – Conserve terrestrial ecosystems and biodiversity: Studying and monitoring beetles contributes to the conservation of unique species and ecosystems in the national park;
• SDG 13 – Climate Action: Biodiversity research helps assess the impact of climate change on ecosystems in the East Kazakhstan region.
