7 february, 2026

Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies of the Faculty of Philology at Farabi Kazakh National University visited the Gabit Musrepov Kazakh State Academic Theatre for Children and Youth, where they watched the performance «Äpke» («Sister») as part of SDG 4 «Quality Education». This event became an important component of the educational process, contributing to the development of students’ professional thinking, spiritual values, and cultural awareness, which are essential elements of quality education.

The main idea of the performance focuses on the themes of responsibility, self-sacrifice, and the role of women in the family and society. The production «Äpke» («Sister») deeply and emotionally portrays the fate of the main character, who sacrifices her personal happiness for the sake of her family by taking responsibility for her younger siblings. Through the image of the sister, students observed how strong a person can become when forced to mature early and bear the heavy burden of life’s responsibilities.

The performance addressed fundamental human values such as love, duty, patience, and inner strength. The themes raised resonated strongly with the audience and became the basis for further discussion, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of social and cultural realities, as well as the distinctive features of Kazakh mentality and traditions.

Visiting the theatre is part of the department’s program aimed at improving the quality of education through students’ engagement with national cultural heritage. This event contributed to broadening students’ horizons and developing their analytical thinking and skills in interpreting literary texts, which are of great importance for their future professional activities in the fields of philology and translation studies.
