At KazNU, a Meeting on “Decent Work and Economic Growth” Was Held within the Framework of SDG 8

On February 10, 2026, a special educational event was organized at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 8 — “Decent Work and Economic Growth.” The meeting was held for first-year students of the educational program 6B02213 – “Museology and Historical and Cultural Tourism.” The organizer and responsible lecturer was Sadygozha A.A.

The event was conducted with the participation of Karim Oralbek, Chief Collections Custodian of the Central Museum. The purpose of the meeting was to explain the specifics of the labor market in the museum sector, promote the principles of decent work, and highlight the importance of sustainable economic development in the field of culture.

The program covered the following areas:

·         A lecture on “Professional Development and Career Opportunities in Museum Studies.” The speaker emphasized the importance of collection preservation, documentation, and scholarly description of museum holdings, as well as the requirements for young professionals.

·         Discussion of decent work principles in the museum sector, occupational safety, and professional responsibility.

·         An open dialogue with students addressing issues of internships, employment opportunities, and the development of professional competencies for future specialists.

First-year students of the educational program 6B02213 – “Museology and Historical and Cultural Tourism” took part in the event. During the meeting, students became acquainted with practical experience in the museum field and received comprehensive information about the contribution of cultural institutions to sustainable economic growth.

The event was aimed at supporting students’ professional orientation, enhancing their understanding of current labor market requirements, and promoting the principles of SDG 8.
