We emphasize there are many people interested in Japanese culture and Asian civilization nowadays. The annual week of Japanese studies, that is traditionally held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, is an event uniting such kind of people.
The organizer of this Week is the department of the Far East, the Faculty of Oriental Studies. This year the grand opening of this event began with a welcoming speech of the dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Bayan Nursultanovna. The concert named “Journey to the Land of the Rising Sun” was the continuation of the celebration. In case of presence of Japanese guests, the concert programme was held in two languages – Kazakh and Japanese.
The opening of the concert was a virtuoso playing on a Japanese instrument "shamisen", performed by the talented musician Toregali Aymurat, that is propagating traditional Japanese music in Kazakhstan. His sensitive and melodic playing was very exciting and inspiring for every guest in the hall. The students studying Japanese philology pleased the guests by showing not only great knowledge of Japanese and English, but also an excellent vocal performance and beautiful dance moves. Also, it’s not a secret that Japanese people have a rich history of theatre art and folklore. And the evidence of this fact was a theatrical play prepared by the students of the 2nd class that had also given guests a wonderful mood.
