Turkey – NATO Relations: An Analytical Review in the Format of an Open Lecture

On February 10, 2026, an open lecture was held at the Faculty of Turkology and the History of Eastern Countries of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on the topic “Turkey–NATO Relations and Defense Policy.”

 

The lecture was delivered by Arlan Aner Askarovich, a first-year master’s student of the educational program “7M02217 – Turkology.” The lecture provided a comprehensive analysis of Turkey’s role within the NATO system, its geopolitical and strategic significance, key aspects of its defense policy, and its position in contemporary international security processes.

 

The event was attended by the academic staff of the Department of Turkology and the History of Eastern Countries, including the Head of the Department, Acting Associate Professor Khalel A., the academic supervisor of pedagogical practice Professor M.Sh. Egamberdiev, PhD Associate Professor Ch. Kurmanali, A.T. Kyrkymbekova, PhD Research Associate N.N. Kairanbayeva, Senior Lecturer N.K. Ilyas, as well as specialists in pedagogy and psychology.

 

Modern teaching methods, interactive tools, and visual materials were actively used during the lecture, ensuring effective engagement with students. The participants highly appreciated the academic depth, clear structure, and relevance of the presented topic.

 

The open lecture demonstrated the strong academic and pedagogical potential of the master’s student and contributed significantly to the training of future specialists and educators in the field of Turkology and international relations.
