The Military Department of KazNU – Not Only Academic and Military Training, but a School of Personal Development

On February 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM, a meeting was held in Lecture Hall No. 1 with students of the Higher School of Economics and Business at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was attended by Senior Lecturer of the Military Department of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Reserve Colonel Ardak Amanatayevich Yakupov, and Deputy Dean for Social and Educational Affairs of the Higher School of Economics and Business, I.U. Kuliyev.

The purpose of the meeting was to inform and explain the implementation of SDG 4 and SDG 16 indicators, as well as to introduce the military training programs for reserve officers and sergeants conducted at the Military Department of KazNU. The training is carried out on the basis of students’ higher education in order to form the military training reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan and to staff initial officer and sergeant positions in the Armed Forces.

During the meeting, Mr. Yakupov emphasized that the mission of the Military Department goes beyond academic and military training; it is also a true school of life and personal development. Military training enhances students’ organization, discipline, and sense of responsibility, while strengthening their civic and patriotic values. He also noted that in peacetime, young graduates who become qualified professionals can serve as a reliable support for the state in emergency situations and matters of national security.

The speaker’s words inspired students to recognize the importance of loyal service to their country, a sense of duty to the Motherland, and responsibility for their future. The students expressed their gratitude for the detailed answers regarding admission requirements and deadlines for the Military Department.
