A round table discussion titled “Referendum on the Draft New Constitution: A Democratic Form of Decision-Making by the People of the Republic of Kazakhstan” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

  During the event, leading faculty members discussed the key provisions of the draft new Constitution, mechanisms for public participation in the referendum, as well as the significance of constitutional reform for the further development of the country’s legal system. Presentations were delivered by the academic staff of the department.

In their speeches, the speakers emphasized the role of the new Constitution as a guarantee of human rights and freedoms, a foundation for legal modernization, and an important instrument for strengthening democratic institutions. Particular attention was paid to referendum procedures, the functions of election commissions, and ensuring transparency in the expression of the people’s will.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants highlighted the importance of expert dialogue and academic discussion in understanding and implementing constitutional transformations in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
