“Data Analytics in the Financial Sector: Professional Competencies and Work Responsibility” (SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals)

A practice-oriented meeting titled “Data Analytics in the Financial Sector: Professional Competencies and Work Responsibility” was held at the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The event was organized within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 17 — “Partnerships for the Goals” — and aimed at strengthening cooperation between the university and the business community.

The speaker of the meeting was Mukhtar Bimurat, a representative of Halyk Bank. During his presentation, he highlighted the importance of data analytics in the financial sector, modern analytical tools, and key professional skills demanded by the labor market.

The following topics were discussed:

  • analysis and interpretation of financial data;

  • application of BI and analytical tools;

  • risk assessment and development of forecasting models;

  • data-driven managerial decision-making;

  • professional responsibility and corporate ethics.

Students of the educational programs “Intelligent Control Systems” and “Data Science” participated in the event.

In line with the principles of SDG 17, the meeting contributed to strengthening partnerships between higher education and the financial sector, enhancing students’ practical competencies, and supporting their professional development.
