18 february, 2026

Master’s students of the “Ecology” educational program at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences are undertaking their research internship at LLP “Knauf Gypsum Kapchagay”. Today, the international Knauf Group is one of the largest manufacturers of construction materials in the world. “Knauf Gypsum Kapchagay” carries out its production activities in accordance with the principles of sustainable development and environmental responsibility, integrating the requirements of the national legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the corporate standards of the international Knauf Group.

During the internship, the master’s students become familiar with the production processes of gypsum-based construction materials and study the company’s environmental management system. Special attention is given to the rational use of natural resources and the recycling of gypsum waste.

Under the guidance of company specialists and the internship supervisor, the master’s students collect and process data on the quality of environmental components.

The implementation of the internship at an industrial enterprise demonstrates an effective mechanism of cooperation between the university and business, aimed at training competitive professionals and integrating sustainable development principles into industrial activities. Such cooperation contributes to strengthening institutional partnerships, as well as the exchange of knowledge and technologies, which fully corresponds to the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 17.
