On February 24, 2026, the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology, and Museology of the Faculty of History at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University organized a round table on the theme “Ecological Culture and Sustainable Development.”

The purpose of the event was to discuss the theoretical and scientific foundations of ecological culture, to integrate the principles of sustainable development into the educational process, and to enhance the ecological responsibility of students.

The round table gathered faculty members, young researchers, doctoral students, and undergraduate students. Discussions focused on global environmental challenges, ecological approaches to the preservation and protection of historical and cultural heritage, rational use of natural resources, and sustainable development strategies.

Participants emphasized the importance of ecological culture in safeguarding archaeological monuments, preserving ethnocultural heritage, and advancing museum activities. In addition, insightful presentations highlighted the traditional societies’ experience of living in harmony with nature and its relevance for contemporary times.

The debate concluded that ecological culture is not limited to environmental protection measures alone; rather, it represents a comprehensive concept that shapes historical consciousness, cultural responsibility, and scientific outlook. At the end of the event, proposals were made to support scientific projects and student initiatives at the departmental level.
