"Law and Social Media: Freedom of speech and cyberbullying"

On February 20, 2026, the Faculty of Philology of al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an event on the topic "Law and social Networks: freedom of speech, cyberbullying", organized by A.O. Maukeyeva, a teacher at the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature.

The purpose of the meeting was to increase the legal and media literacy of students, and to form a responsible attitude towards freedom of speech and behavior in the digital environment.

During the event, issues of freedom of speech on social media, responsibility for spreading false information, as well as the causes and consequences of cyberbullying were discussed. The participants reviewed examples from Internet practice and discussed ways to protect themselves from online aggression.

The students actively participated in the discussion, expressed their opinions and shared their observations. The event contributed to the development of legal culture and the formation of conscious behavior on social networks.
