Environmental Protection Is the Duty of Every Citizen
The Department of Mathematical and Computer Modeling of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University organized a seminar entitled“Environmental Protection Is the Duty of Every Citizen.”
The event was held within the framework of the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6, 13, 14, and 15, as well as the “Taza Kazakhstan” environmental project. Students of the 1st and 2nd years of the “Applied Mathematics” educational program actively participated in the seminar.
The seminar was conducted by a first-year master’s student of the educational program “7M05409 – Applied and Computational Mathematics”, Aizhanar Kurmanzhankyzy Kenes. The young specialist presented issues of environmental safety, rational use of natural resources, and environmental protection, effectively integrating them with mathematical modeling methods and modern educational approaches.
During the seminar, key topics such as combating climate change, preserving aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, and protecting clean water resources were discussed. Special attention was paid to the role of science and digital technologies in shaping environmental awareness. The students were divided into three groups and presented their assigned tasks.
The seminar was attended by the Head of the Department Saule Dzhumakanovna Mausumbekova, the Deputy Head of the Department for Academic and Educational Affairs Lida Absultanovna Sagimbayeva, and the Deputy Dean for Educational Affairs Bolat Kusainovich Abenov, who highly appreciated the master’s student’s work.
At the conclusion of the event, it was emphasized that such seminars play an important role in enhancing students’ civic responsibility, developing environmental culture, and promoting the ideas of the Sustainable Development Goals. The content of the seminar fully corresponds to the university’s academic standards and priority areas of educational work.
