International Cooperation within the EduFusion NSG “Train Trainers” Programm. (SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals).
On 16–19 February 2026, representatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University participated in the international EduFusion NSG “Train Trainers” programme, hosted by D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University. The Edu-Fusion Network for Sustainable Growth (EDUFUSION NSG) is a key Erasmus+ project aimed at transforming higher education in Kazakhstan through active international cooperation. The project brings together leading universities from Kazakhstan and the European Union, including the University of Vigo (Spain) and the University of Porto (Portugal), forming a sustainable “University–Industry” cooperation model.
The international programme format enabled participants to exchange advanced European practices in engineering pedagogy, digital learning, competence-based curriculum design, assessment systems, and leadership development. This provided opportunities to implement innovative teaching methods, enhance research collaboration, and establish partnerships with industry.
From Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the programme participants included: Yerulan Sagidolda, Head of the Department of Electronics and Astrophysics, Associate Professor; Bakyt Khaniyev, Director of the Research Institute of Experimental and Theoretical Physics; and Kundyz Turekhanova, Associate Professor of the Department of Plasma Physics, Nanotechnology and Computer Physics. Participants successfully completed the four-day Train-the-Trainer Capacity-Building Workshop and received international certificates validating their expertise.
The programme addressed modern approaches to engineering education, integration of digital technologies, competence-based assessment, leadership skills, and collaboration with industrial partners. It also emphasized the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), highlighting international collaboration and the exchange of best practices.
Participation in the programme represented an important step in strengthening international cooperation and advancing the educational initiatives of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University at the European level. The knowledge and experience gained will enable the implementation of innovative teaching methods, improve the quality of education, and enhance the professional competencies of students.
