Scientific heritage as a factor in the development of innovative thinking among young people (UN SDG-4, SDG-9)

On February 25, 2026, an educational event entitled “Gylym gumyr: A Tribute to Academician Ö. Zholdasbekov” was held to commemorate the anniversary of the distinguished scientist, Academician Omirbek Zholdasbekov. The event was organized by Senior Curator-Advisor A.D. Serbayeva of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, together with second-year students of the “6B05105 – Genetics” educational program and first-year master’s students of the “7M05105 – Genetics” program N.S. Amankeldi and R.N. Nurgaliyeva.

The main objective of the event was to promote the academician’s rich scientific legacy, introduce the younger generation to his significant contribution to the development of national science, and encourage students to pursue research activities. During the meeting, participants shared insightful information about the scholar’s life journey, his perseverance in science, innovative initiatives, and strong organizational skills.

Held in an interactive format, the event provided students with an opportunity to analyze the importance of the academician’s scientific works and to discuss perseverance in science, the pursuit of knowledge, professional responsibility, and the strategic role of research in societal development. Participants also emphasized the continuity of generations in science and education, presenting the scholar’s exemplary life path as a model for today’s young researchers.
