The Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences Successfully Passed a Surveillance Audit of the Quality Management System under ISO 9001:2015

In accordance with Order No. 93 dated February 20, 2026, on March 2, 2026, the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences successfully underwent a surveillance audit of its Quality Management System (QMS).

The audit was conducted online by the auditing company Business Construction System of Management. The audit was carried out by the Commercial Director of the company, Ms. E.P. Rodionova.

The audit was performed to verify compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2015.

Within the framework of the audit, key processes related to the training of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students under the educational program 8D07303 “Cartography” were reviewed:

  • Planning of activities for the training of a Doctor in Cartography (Clauses 8.1, 6.1, 9.1 of ISO 9001:2015)
  • Analysis of requirements of customers and interested parties (Clause 8.2)
  • Development of educational services (Clause 8.3)
  • Procurement of works, services, and materials, including outsourced services (Clause 8.4)
  • Process of providing PhD training services (Clause 8.5)
  • Monitoring of knowledge and competencies during the preparation of the doctoral dissertation (Clause 8.6)
  • Control of knowledge and competencies when awarding the PhD degree (Clause 8.6)
  • Control of nonconforming outputs of training processes (Clause 8.7)
  • Risk management (Clause 8.1)
  • Management of nonconformities and corrective actions (Clause 10.2)
  • Feedback from customers (doctoral candidates and other stakeholders) (Clause 9.1)
  • Methods for measuring the quality of educational services  

The audit involved the Dean of the Faculty, Deputy Deans, Heads of Departments, developers and coordinators of the educational program, the Office for Educational Process Design, Academic Committees, the Department of Science and Innovation, and профиль departments.

Additionally, an audit was conducted on the implementation processes of the research project AP23490857 “Assessment of Degradation Processes of Irrigated Lands in the Turkestan Region for Sustainable Land Use.”

The following processes were reviewed:

  • Project planning (initiation, technical specification, formation of expected results)
  • Analysis of customer requirements
  • Formation of the resource program necessary for project implementation
  • Procurement of works, services, and materials
  • Monitoring of research activities
  • Quality control of research work
  • Project risk management
  • Management of nonconformities and corrective actions
  • Feedback from stakeholders
  • Methods for measuring the quality of project implementation

All processes were reviewed in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

As a result of the surveillance audit, the effective functioning of the Faculty’s Quality Management System in compliance with the international standard ISO 9001:2015 was confirmed. The Faculty demonstrates a systematic approach to managing educational and research processes, focusing on the quality of doctoral training and the sustainable development of scientific research.

The Faculty continues consistent work on improving internal processes within the framework of preparation for international accreditation and the further development of a quality culture.
