Love for Books is A Path to Spiritual Growth

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University’s Department of Turkology and Language Theory held a special interactive event for 1st to 4th-year Turkology students titled “Love for Books”.

The main goal of the event was to inspire a love for reading, encourage personal and spiritual growth, and promote a culture of intellectual engagement among students. One of the key strengths of this format is that it stimulates reading through healthy competition, increasing motivation and active participation.

To make the activity more engaging, each student secretly gifted a book to another participant. The books were chosen carefully to spark curiosity, broaden horizons, and enrich personal development.

All participants must finish reading their gifted book within one month. Afterwards, students will gather again to discuss their impressions, analyze the books, and guess their secret gift-givers. This follow-up meeting will foster literary dialogue, critical thinking, and meaningful cultural exchange.

In addition, students shared their thoughts on the importance of books in shaping personal values, expanding knowledge, and deepening spiritual awareness. The event created a warm and inspiring atmosphere that connected students from different academic years.

Such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering reading culture, developing intellectual curiosity, and enriching students’ inner world.
