Your feat is immortal, and your memory is eternal.
Obtaining high-quality education by students from abroad, corresponding to the 4th principle of the SDGs, received within the walls of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University is unthinkable without acquaintance and study of the social life of the country of study. On the eve of International Women's Day on March 8, the Department of Language and General Education Training for Foreigners hosts thematic open educational events where teachers tell students about the role of women in modern society in Kazakhstan. Special attention is paid to the heroic deeds performed by the great daughters of the Kazakh people: from the legendary rulers Tomiris and Bopai Khanim to the heroic women of the Great Patriotic War Manshuk Mametova, Aliya Moldagulova and Hiuaz Dospanova. "Kazakhstan reveres the unparalleled feat of our fathers and mothers, the generation of winners who defended universal human values in the most difficult conditions for the development of all states," K.-Zh.K. said.Tokayev, speaking at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State on October 10, 2025. Kazakhstan is actively working to preserve the memory of the heroines, including volumes dedicated to women veterans. Kazakh women, along with men, showed resilience in defending their homeland, which became an example of patriotism.
One of the obligatory local history excursions for foreign students is a walking tour of the historical center of the city with a visit to the monument to the heroes Manshuk Mametova and Aliya Moldagulova. With what delight young people perceive information about the heroic contribution of the legendary Kazakh women to the Great Victory!
Round tables and curatorial hours dedicated to heroic Kazakh women, in addition to providing information about Kazakhstan that foreign students need, are designed to illustrate the principle of gender equality, proclaimed by one of the theses of the SDGs (5). This kind of information is received with great interest by students from abroad studying at the Faculty of pre-university education.
