Open discussion platform on the topic "Human rights – the basis for the development of society"
On March 6, 2026, within the framework of explaining the main principles of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and discussing one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to the protection of human rights, an open discussion platform titled “Human Rights as the Foundation of Social Development” was held. The event was aimed at developing students’ critical thinking, civic awareness, and academic culture.
During the discussion, participants examined the importance of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the fundamental law that guarantees the rights and freedoms of citizens. Particular attention was given to the constitutional provisions that ensure the protection of human rights, the principle of equality before the law, and the responsibilities of both the state and society in safeguarding these rights. Students actively participated in the discussion, expressing their opinions and sharing their perspectives on the role of human rights in building a democratic and just society.
Another important topic addressed during the event was gender equality and equal opportunities for men and women in modern society. Participants emphasized that the development of gender policies contributes to social stability, economic growth, and the creation of a fair and inclusive social environment. In addition, the discussion covered issues related to the protection of the rights of students and teachers in the academic environment, including the importance of maintaining academic integrity, mutual respect, and responsibility within the educational process.
The open discussion format created an atmosphere that encouraged active dialogue and exchange of ideas. Students had the opportunity not only to expand their knowledge of human rights but also to develop a deeper understanding of legal culture and civic responsibility.
The main goal of the event was to improve students’ legal awareness, promote social engagement, and foster respect for human rights and freedoms in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and international human rights standards.
The event was organized by second-year students of the “Accounting and Audit” educational program together with the faculty members of the Department of Finance and Accounting. The academic advisors of the group were PhD, Senior Lecturer Zh. Kalymbekova and PhD, Senior Lecturer A.K. Boranbayeva.
