Transition to a Green Economy as a Key Direction of Sustainable Development
In March 2026, an educational event entitled “Transition to a Green Economy as a Factor of National Competitiveness” was organized for students majoring in Economics. During the event, students discussed the essence and significance of the green economy and examined its contribution to the country’s economic development and environmental protection. Particular attention was given to the role of the green economy in modern society and its impact on the sustainable development of the national economy.
During the event, Candidate of Economic Sciences and Senior Lecturer Turarov D.R., as well as Senior Lecturer Tabeev T.P., emphasized that the transition to a green economy is one of the most pressing issues facing modern society. They highlighted that the implementation of sustainable development principles, efficient use of natural resources, and environmental protection represent key priorities of contemporary socio-economic policy.
In addition, the “EcoFarabi AI Virtual Eco-Advisor” project launched at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was presented. This digital platform aims to raise environmental awareness, promote the principles of sustainable development, and support initiatives aimed at protecting the environment.
It was noted that the project aligns with the university’s sustainable development strategy and represents an important innovative initiative aimed at strengthening environmental responsibility.
The event is consistent with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, and Goal 13 – Climate Action. Such initiatives not only broaden students’ knowledge but also contribute to strengthening their sense of social responsibility.
