Recognizing Financial Pyramids and Ways to Prevent Them
On March 12, 2026, an informational and educational session titled “Recognizing Financial Pyramids and Ways to Prevent Them” was held at the Department of Mechanics for 1st–2nd year students. The event was organized by the senior curator of the department O.B. Baysbaeva together with first-year master’s students of the “Space Engineering and Technology” educational program.
The main purpose of the event was to improve students’ financial literacy, raise awareness about financial fraud, and help young people recognize and avoid suspicious financial schemes.
During the meeting, the Deputy Dean for Social and Educational Work of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics B.K. Abenov delivered an opening speech and shared important information about common types of financial fraud and their consequences in modern society.
During the event, students learned what financial pyramids are, identified five key signs of fraudulent schemes, and discussed practical ways to verify the legitimacy of companies in Kazakhstan. In addition, participants analyzed real-life cases and actively took part in an educational quiz.
Students also received useful information on what actions to take if they encounter such situations and learned practical tips on how to protect their bank cards and personal data from fraudsters.
The event was held in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:
Goal 4 – Quality Education and Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth.
