The “KazNU Tarlany” competition was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University
A traditional competition titled “KazNU Tarlany” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was organized by the Law and Order Protection Unit of the Youth Organizations Committee. The competition served as an important cultural and educational initiative aimed at supporting the comprehensive development of students, revealing their creative potential, strengthening leadership skills, and promoting stage culture among young people.
The primary objective of the competition was to identify talented and proactive students, encourage their creative initiatives, and create opportunities for their active participation in the social and cultural life of the university. Such initiatives contribute significantly to the intellectual and personal development of students by fostering self-expression, critical thinking, creativity, and social responsibility.
The organization of this event is also aligned with the principles promoted by the United Nations within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, the initiative contributes to SDG 4 – “Quality Education,” which focuses on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. Furthermore, the competition reflects the objectives of SDG 16 – “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions,” as it supports youth engagement, civic awareness, and the development of responsible and socially active citizens.
The competition program consisted of several stages. During the first stage, participants introduced themselves through video presentations where they shared information about their personal values, aspirations, and interests. This stage allowed participants to highlight their individuality, creativity, and communication skills.
The second stage involved demonstrating skills in assembling and disassembling an automatic rifle. This stage emphasized discipline, precision, and responsibility, encouraging students to develop qualities such as determination, courage, and accountability.
One of the most engaging parts of the competition was the creative performance stage. Participants presented a variety of artistic performances, including vocal performances, dance acts, and short theatrical productions. The defile stage also became an impressive part of the program, allowing contestants to demonstrate their confidence, stage presence, and sense of style.
The program also included a “like-time” stage designed to measure audience engagement through social media interaction. However, due to technical reasons, the results of this stage were not included in the final evaluation.
Another distinctive feature of the competition was the assignment of thematic images to each participant. Contestants appeared on stage portraying characters such as sailors, paratroopers, and other representatives of military professions. This stage allowed participants to demonstrate their acting abilities, creativity, and stage culture.
According to the final results of the competition, the winners were determined as follows:
· Grand Prix – Yerkebulan Toktassyn (Faculty of Journalism, “Zhastar Ruhy” youth organization);
· І Place – Aibynbek Usen (“Sunkar” organization);
· ІІ Place – Bauyrzhan Kemelbek (Student Council organization);
· ІІІ Place – Nurbolat Asilov (“Komek” organization).
The “KazNU Tarlany” competition became an important platform for revealing the creative, intellectual, and leadership potential of university students. Events of this kind not only increase student engagement but also contribute to the development of leadership, teamwork, and civic responsibility among young people.
Therefore, organizing such cultural and educational initiatives within the university environment plays a crucial role in shaping well-rounded individuals who are capable of contributing to the sustainable development of society and representing a new generation of active and responsible youth.
