“Gender Inequality: Understanding Challenges and Promoting Equality”

On March 14, 2026, senior teacher Gulnaz Nurdildaevna Iskakova and first-year PhD students of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies, Faculty of Philology, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University: Aitleuova Alima Bolatkizy, Bausarieva Gulzada Tuganbekovna, Dauylova Dinara Zhakypbekovna, Otetileuova Asel Zhumabaykyzy, Zhang Xiang and Chen Tianxin and organized an educational event within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals dedicated to SDG “Gender Equality”, entitled “Gender Inequality: Understanding Challenges and Promoting Equality.” The event was held for third-year students of the educational program “6B02303 – Foreign Philology (Western Languages).”

The main purpose of the meeting was to raise students’ awareness of gender inequality issues, promote the principles of gender equality, and emphasize the importance of equal rights and opportunities in modern society.

During the discussion, participants became acquainted with the key objectives of SDG including:

— eliminating all forms of discrimination against women and girls;

— ensuring equal opportunities for women and men in education and employment;

— increasing women’s participation in social, political, and economic life;

— reducing gender stereotypes and promoting a culture of equality.

Students actively participated in the discussion, sharing their views on the causes of gender inequality and its impact on society. Issues related to equal opportunities in education and employment were also discussed.

Students from Narxoz University also took part in the event and actively engaged in the discussion and exchange of ideas. Participants were given situational questions and shared their perspectives while suggesting possible ways to promote gender equality.

The event took place in an atmosphere of open dialogue and active engagement. Students emphasized that gender equality is an important condition for sustainable social development.

In conclusion, participants noted that achieving gender equality is not only the responsibility of government policy but also the shared responsibility of every citizen.
