March 16 is Day of Culture and National Traditions
As part of the celebration of the Day of Culture and National Traditions on March 16, a cultural and educational event was organized by Akhmet Baitursynuly Department of Kazakh Linguistics of the Faculty of Philology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The meeting dedicated to the promotion of national values took place in Dormitory No. 17 of the university. The event was organized by the Head of the Department, Candidate of Philological Sciences Abdibek Amirov, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Kenzhetay Kurkebaev, and PhD Zhanat Sarsenbay.

The main purpose of the event was to introduce students to the rich cultural heritage and traditional customs of the Kazakh people, to strengthen the continuity between generations, and to promote national awareness among the younger generation.

During the meeting, participants were introduced to significant Kazakh traditions, beginning with the “Körisu” greeting tradition, as well as customs related to the birth of a child, including the traditional cradle ceremony and the performance of lullabies. Their educational, cultural, and social significance was explained in detail.

Through theatrical performances and informative explanations, students had the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the traditions, lifestyle, and worldview of the Kazakh people.
Such events play an important role in fostering national identity among young people, encouraging respect for traditional culture, and preserving the continuity of national values.
