Legal Literacy for Students: Law, Prevention, and Digital Security
On February 24, 2026, an open seminar titled “Legal Literacy for Students: Law, Prevention, and Digital Security” was held in the Hall of the Academic Council named after E. Yergogin at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was organized within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 16 – “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”, aimed at strengthening legal culture and fostering responsible citizenship in society.
The seminar was organized by the faculty members of the Department of Chemistry and Technology of Organic Substances, Natural Compounds and Polymers: Professor G.S. Irmukhametova, Associate Professors R.K. Rakhmetullayeva and Yu.A. Litvinenko, Acting Associate Professor L.E. Agibayeva, Senior Lecturers D.N. Makhayeva and A.Zh. Alikulov, as well as first-year doctoral students of the educational programs «8D07105 – Chemical Technology of Organic Substances» – B. Khavilkhairat, A. Kappassuly, and «8D05301 – Chemistry» – A. Akhmediya.
The main purpose of the event was to enhance students’ legal literacy, prevent offenses in the student environment, and explain the rules of safe behavior in the digital space in the context of modern cyber threats. During the seminar, participants discussed the key rights and responsibilities of students, the principles of academic integrity, and legal aspects of responsibility in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting held at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, students received practical recommendations on protecting intellectual property in scientific activities. They were also informed about ethical and responsible behavior on the internet, including the rules of online etiquette (netiquette).
The organization of this seminar became another contribution of the university to the development of legal awareness among young people, the strengthening of the principles of justice and the rule of law, and the promotion of a safe and responsible digital environment in society.
