DEAR COLLEAGUES!

On June 5–6, 2026, Al-Farabi Kazakh national university (Almaty, Kazakhstan), in cooperation with Patrice Lumumba Institute of foreign languages of RUDN (Moscow, Russia), Istanbul University (Istanbul, Turkey), Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz university (Taraz, Kazakhstan), the Al-Farabi Eurasian research center of Istanbul university (Istanbul, Türkiye), the S.D. Erzia International foundation of arts (Moscow, Russia), the research laboratory “Language and forms of culture” of the Higher Institute of languages of Tunis, University of Carthage (Tunis, Tunisia), National Coalition for Language Rights (Washington, USA), Mirzo Ulugbek National university of Uzbekistan (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Faculty of Humanities and Education, KIMEP University (Almaty, Kazakhstan), Abu Ali ibn Sino Bukhara State medical institute (Bukhara, Uzbekistan), Bukhara State University (Bukhara, Uzbekistan), and Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov (Samarkand, Uzbekistan) is holding the traditional XXVIII International Akhanov readings.

 

The goal of the international forum is to exchange international experiences in language research and teaching, discuss current issues in modern linguistics, and methods of teaching various languages ​​in the new, increasingly complex information environment. It also aims to identify and outline prospects for linguistic research, and determine the importance of using new knowledge, information technology, and digital technologies in humanities research and language teaching.

Working languages: Kazakh, Russian, Turkish, and English.

 

Brief overview:

 

The International AKHANOV READINGS have been organized by the Department of Turkology and Theory of Language (formerly the Department of General Linguistics) at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University since 1998.

According to established tradition, the Akhanov readings are hosted in the country of one of the organizing universities. Thus, in 2022, the XXVI International Akhanov readings were held at Istanbul University (Türkiye), and in 2024, at Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz University (MTU) in the format of a round table.

 

Main thematic areas of the XXVIII International Akhanov readings:

  1. Language, semiotics, and writing systems: contemporary approaches to the analysis of linguistic signs, writing systems, and communication.
  2. Language and culture: language as a carrier of cultural meanings and the interrelation between linguistic and cultural identity.
  3. Methodology of teaching native and foreign languages in the digital era: innovative teaching methods, digital educational technologies  and integration of neuroscience and AI in language education.
  4. Contemporary linguistics: approaches to the development and implementation of educational programs.

PROCEDURE FOR PARTICIPATION

IN THE PLENARY SESSION AND CONFERENCE SECTIONS

(Al-Farabi Kazakh national university)

 

Working languages: Kazakh, Russian, Turkish, English.

The time allocated for a presentation at the plenary session is 10–15 minutes,

the time allocated for a presentation within the thematic sections is 5–7 minutes,

the time allocated for questions and answers is 3 minutes.

RULES FOR ARTICLE (REPORT) FORMATTING:

The text of the paper (no more than 5 pages) must include the following elements:

(1) first and last name of the author(s); (2) academic degree, position, and place of work of the author(s); (3) city, country; (4) for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students – full name of the academic supervisor; (5) e-mail address(es) of the author(s); (6) title of the paper (up to 10 words); (7) abstract, keywords; (8) main text of the paper. The articles must present a clear description of the objectives, methodology, and expected results of the research or project to be presented in the paper.

The abstract must be provided in three languages – Kazakh, Russian, and English.

Font – Times New Roman; main text font size – 12; spacing – single; paragraph indent – 1 cm; margins: 2 cm on all sides; text emphasis – italics; length – no more than 5 pages; language of publication – Kazakh, Turkish, Russian, or English. The article header containing information about the author(s) should be formatted in the language of the article.

  1. insert the MRNTI in the upper right corner;
  2. place the title of the paper centered (capital letters, bold, font size 14);
  3. below, centered, indicate the author’s surname and initials (lowercase letters, bold, font size 12);
  4. Under the surname – the institution you represent, city, country (lowercase letters, font size 12);
  5. Below – e-mail address (italics, font size 10);
  6. The article abstract is presented consecutively in three languages (Kazakh, Russian, and English) with translation of the surname and initials, and the title of the article. The length of one abstract is up to 100 words. The abstract translation must be original; online translation is not allowed;
  7. After each abstract, provide keywords (no more than 5-7 words) respectively in Kazakh, Russian, and English, in lowercase letters, italics, font size 10;
  8. Margins: top and bottom, left and right – 20 mm; page orientation – portrait;
  9. Line spacing – single;
  10. References in the text are given in square brackets [1, 15], [1, 15-17], where the first number indicates the reference number in the list of References, and the second indicates the page(s);
  11. References should be formatted according to the following examples:

Formatting of references according to GOST (Literature, References) with strict observance of spaces, periods, and dashes (please distinguish between hyphens and dashes); no period should be placed after the number in the reference list (1, 2, 3, etc.); In-text references should be formatted as follows: [1, 23], where 1 indicates the source number and 23 the page; [1; 10], where numbers separated by a semicolon indicate the sources cited.

When formatting the article, pay special attention to spacing: between numbers in references [1, 2]; between initials and surname (A.S. Amanzholov); between periods and dashes in the reference list (Check spaces, including by enabling Non-printing characters).

After final editing, spelling must be checked, the file containing the article should be named using the author’s surname in Cyrillic or Latin script. Plagiarism is not allowed!

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to select submissions. Articles are evaluated in terms of relevance, methodology and theoretical framework, as well as the scholarly value of the research. Articles approved by reviewers will be published in an electronic proceedings volume after the conference. The participant registration form should be completed according to the sample (see below).
