“The Role of Language and Education in Reducing Social Inequality”
On March 17, 2026, at 12:00, an event titled “The Role of Language and Education in Reducing Social Inequality” was held at the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University within the framework of “SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.” The event was organized by Assistant Professor K. Kenzhekanova from the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies. First-year students of «6B02313 - Applied Kazakh Linguistics» program actively participated in the event.
The main objective of the event was to broaden students’ understanding of social inequality and to highlight the importance of language and education in creating equal opportunities in society. During the meeting, students discussed the causes and consequences of inequality and shared their opinions and ideas. In addition, group activities and discussions were organized, where participants proposed their own solutions.
It was emphasized that language is not only a means of communication but also an important factor in social integration and ensuring equal opportunities. Students paid special attention to issues such as access to education, language barriers, and cultural differences.
In conclusion, the event contributed to the development of students’ critical thinking skills, increased their social responsibility, and encouraged them to be more engaged with important societal issues as future professionals.
