International Archaeological Seminar at Al-Farabi KazNU

From March 16 to 19, 2026, the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology and Museology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international scientific seminar. The event was organized by researchers from the French archaeological research company Eveha International.

The seminar was titled “Human Skeletal Remains in Archaeological Context: Contributions of Physical Anthropology to Funerary Archaeology” (Human skeletal remains in archaeological context: the contribution of physical anthropology to funerary archaeology). The keynote speaker was Elodie Lassalle, whose research interests include bioarchaeology, osteology, paleopathology, taphonomy, and functional morphology.

This academic gathering contributed to Sustainable Development Goal 4 – ensuring quality education, by providing students and young scholars with access to international expertise. It also aligned with Goal 17 – partnerships for the goals, strengthening collaboration between KazNU and international research institutions.
