Implementation of Quality Education Principles within an Open Lesson

17 march, 2026

An open lesson dedicated to urban space and navigation was held at the Department of Language and General Education Training for Foreigners within the Faculty of Pre-university Education. The session was attended by students from China currently enrolled in the pre-university foundation program. Faculty members also attended the event to evaluate the teaching methodology and student engagement.

The primary objective of the lesson was to enable students to navigate a metropolis freely and build routes in Russian. Special emphasis was placed on grammar: the students practiced using the relative pronoun "который" (which/that) in various cases, including the prepositional case, which often poses challenges for foreign learners. During the class, the students from the PRC practiced mapping out real routes from their dormitory to the academic building and key city locations using the new grammatical structures.

Such lessons are directly linked to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Quality Education (SDG 4). These sessions help international citizens adapt more quickly to a new environment, feel more confident in the city, and integrate effectively into the educational process. The faculty noted the students' keen interest in the topic and their readiness to apply the knowledge in practice, which is a crucial stage in preparing for university admission.
