"A Step Toward a Healthy Life": Open Advisory Hour in the Framework of UN SDG-3
On March 19, 2026, an open advisory hour as part of the pedagogical practice for second-year students of the educational program "6B05104-Genetics" was held by master's student-intern Urkiya Seitbekkyzy Kuralova.
During the session, the main components of a healthy lifestyle were thoroughly discussed. In particular, proper nutrition, physical activity, sleeping habits, avoidance of harmful behaviors, and mental health were disclosed. Special attention was also given to genetics-related aspects, specifically the interaction between hereditary characteristics and environmental factors.
The key topics covered in the class were:
– the concept and importance of a healthy lifestyle;
– the influence of genetic and environmental factors on human health;
– the long-term consequences of bad habits;
– the role of maintaining health in the professional development of future specialists.
The interactive format of the class encouraged active student participation. During the discussion, participants expressed their opinions and analyzed real-life situations, allowing for a deeper understanding of the topic. A video was shown to enhance the critical thinking skills.
Overall, the open advisory hour aimed to improve students’ knowledge of a healthy lifestyle and to develop the personal responsibility. This event contributed to fostering a conscious attitude towards the health.
