Celebrations dedicated to the Day of Knowledge and the beginning of the 2026-2027 academic year were held at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In the new academic year, 8 117 students joined the university community.

This year, 6236 students have been accepted for bachelor's degree. Their ranks were joined by 674 holders of the Altyn Belgi badge and 46 highly successful athletes – winners and prize-winners of national and international competitions. In addition, 84 state grant holders scored over 130 points according to the UNT results, which is 86.7% higher than last year.

1 167 people have also enrolled in the master's program, and 462 researchers have entered the doctoral program. There are 199 students enrolled in the college, and 53 students enrolled in the specialized school. In order to adapt students to the new environment and their professional orientation, a special program was implemented that covered all 16 faculties of the university.

At meetings with vice-rectors, deans, heads of departments and supervisors, the freshmen explained the specifics of educational programs and the learning process. At the same time, students were presented with opportunities to participate in research projects, implement creative and community initiatives, and join student organizations.

Each faculty organized career guidance events in a unique format. In particular, the Faculty of Journalism hosted the MEDIA START – 2026: First Year Media Orientation program, during which future media specialists got acquainted with the life of the faculty, the teaching staff and the vectors of personal professional development. The Faculty of Philology hosted a "Tanys Bol" event for the new generation, and the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology hosted a special "Welcome, freshman!" meeting.

As part of the festive program, an introductory tour of the KazNU campus was organized for first-year students. The young people visited the Farabi Library, the Keremet Student Service Center, the main museum, the FARABI HUB Innovation center and the Supercomputer Center. During the tour, the participants appreciated the possibilities of modern infrastructure and received detailed information about the sites designed for study, research and the development of creative abilities.
