Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the National University of Kongju (South Korea) signed a Cooperation agreement. Welcoming the guests, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of KazNU Askar Khikmetov told about the scientific and educational activities and international cooperation of KazNU to the delegation of South Korea, headed by the President of the National University of Kongju, Mr. Sung-Soo Won.
To date, KazNU has established partnerships with 55 Universities and organizations in South Korea, with which more than 64 bilateral agreements have been signed. International cooperation includes a wide range of relationships, such as the exchange of students and academic staff, the implementation of joint research projects, invitation of professors, and internships for PhD students. Therefore, over the past three years, more than 80 students of the Department of Korean Studies have undergone language training in leading Korean universities.
The International Center for Korean Studies has been successfully operating at the University, which brings together and coordinates the work of scientists, teachers, Korean scientists, students for a comprehensive study of the history, culture, politics, economics of Korea and the Korean language.
In addition, annually, as part of a Memorandum of Cooperation, doctors of the Kangam Severance Clinic visit patients at the «Smart Health» Diagnostic Center of KazNU with a volunteer program for free treatment and diagnostic services. In addition, under the program of the POSCO PARK Foundation, the best students from 12 Universities in 10 countries in Asia have been awarded scholarships, including the students of KazNU.
The President of Kongju National University, Mr. Sung-Soo Won, thanked the leadership of the University and expressed hope for cooperation, as they are interested in expanding scientific and educational relations in Kazakhstan. The Parties also discussed in detail mutually beneficial areas of work and signed an Agreement on cooperation between the two Universities.
