Meeting with the delegation of the national center of space researches and technologies

In the Center of Remote Sensing of the Earth of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on September 13, 2019, in order to develop cooperation and transfer the new educational programs and technologies in the field of space research, a meeting with the delegation of the National Center of Space Research and Technology (NCSRT) was held.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the potential for expanding scientific and technical ties, as well as the possibilities for further bilateral partnerships in the scientific and educational fields.

The delegation, led by the chairman of the board, Chingis Tukenovich Omarov, visited the Central Control Center for Remote Sensing of the Earth, where they got acquainted with the virtual satellite receiving station of remote sensing (SATSEE), GIS platform (SUPERMAP GIS 9D). Also got acquainted with the work of the student design bureau for the design of nanosatellites (AlFarabi-1, AlFarabi-2) and the robotics laboratory.

Within the framework of the meeting program, issues of current and upcoming cooperation in the field of space research and the introduction of their results and new space technologies in the national economy were discussed.

Heads of delegations - Omarov Chingis Tukenovich - Chairman of the Board of the National Center of Space Research and Technology and Ramazanov Tlekkabul Sabitovich - Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University exchanged views on the development of educational processes in the interests of both organizations and the country as a whole.

Director of the Center for Remote Sensing Sakhariev B.S. introduced the SatSee virtual receiving station, which allows to provide remote sensing data from Chinese remote sensing satellites and the modern SuperMap GIS 9D software, which allows solving many tasks of geographic information modeling and analysis. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University signed an agreement on the trade representation of this GIS platform in our country.

The directions of development of the University’s technological park and the upcoming installation of a supercomputer with computing power up to 1600 Teraflops were presented.

Experts discussed possible areas for further scientific-technical and educational cooperation.
