FESTIVAL OF LANGUAGES AT DEPARTMENT OF THE FAR EAST
The Faculty of Oriental Studies in the framework of the "Festival of Languages" organized a musical and literary evening in honor of the celebration of the "175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayev"
On the 12th of September first year students of Department of the Far East held a literary and musical evening at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi KazNU in honor of the 175th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayev as part of the celebration of Language Day in Kazakhstan. The evening washeld in three languages. At this festive event, our freshmen not only magnified the value and importance of each individual language, more over, they revealed their talents and skills. The hosts of the holiday recited the winged sayings and verses of the great poet Abay by heart, making an evening a way more special. Some students demonstrated virtuous playing on the folk Kazakh instruments such as dombra and kobyz, others sang songs in eastern and western languages, performed modern dancing. The event, combining classic and modern, has become a kind of bridge between the past and the present.
One of the main purposes of the event was to identify the abilities of newly entered students and to attract them to various cultural events. “Strive to learn the languages of seven people and seven different sciences!” used to say our wise ancestors. Indeed, students by learning languages reveal their new abilities.
