GLOBAL MIGRATION FILM FESTIVAL HELD AT KAZNU
The UN Department of Global Communications in Kazakhstan and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty jointly organized the Global Migration Film Festival at KazNU based on Gregoire Gosset’s film “One-way ticket” dedicated to International Migrant Day on December 18th.
This film festival was organized by the International Organization for Migration (UN) from November 28th to December 18th, 2019, with the support of the United Nations Department of Global Communications. This is the first time in Kazakhstan that the Global Festival of Migration Films has been held.
Professor M. Burkitbayev first Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU opened the event with a welcoming speech. The event was also attended by Zeynal Gadzhiev who is the head of the International Migration Organization in Central Asia, Victoria Kasabyan, the head of the Center for the International Migration Organization in Almaty, Miladin Miladinov who is the General Consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Christiana Markert, the new General Consulate of Germany in Almaty.
One of the important reasons why the film festival is so significant is that it puts before them the needs and desires of modern people in different parts of the world. The unstable situation with migrants allows all viewers who are indifferent to this to see what is happening around the world. Thus, from the story, which comes from two closely interconnected characters in the film, we begin to understand the true causes and problems of the global movement of people.
In turn, at the end of the film festival, students and undergraduates who took part in the event thanked the entire organization group for their support in organizing and conducting the event, each of whom shared his impressions of the film - each of them emphasized the depth of the storyline and storytelling on screen ultimately left every audience in search of a better place to live.
