Machine Vision on Guard of KazNU’s Security
Students of Physical & Technical Cluster of Al-Farabi KazNU have developed a face recognition and monitoring system - Machine Vision that is based on the use of deep learning neural networks. Currently, the University is in the process of introducing this modern technology in the campus of Al-Farabi Smart University.
Al-Farabi KazNU actively supports innovative startups and breakthrough student projects. Technology Park located on the territory of the University attracts for various projects the inquisitive students. The University competitions are also aimed at awakening creative and research activities of the students. The students of each level of education have the opportunity to share their ideas for development of applied projects in the scientific and technological field, as well as for solving social problems of society.
The University stimulates and motivates breakthrough developments and supports young people in new their endeavors. One of these startups is the Machine Vision project - a face recognition and monitoring system based on the use of deep learning neural networks developed by students of Physics & Technology Cluster.
KazNU is in the process of introducing this modern technology in the campus of Al-Farabi Smart University. During the testing period, video surveillance cameras will be installed in the Student Houses as part of the Machine Vision system, into which data on students living in dormitories will be uploaded. If unauthorized persons enter the territory, a signal will be sent, to which the guard will be able to immediately respond.
After testing, the system will be installed at checkpoints throughout the University. It is expected, introduction of Machine Vision will enhance campus security. A strong team of young scientists and students majoring in Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications has been working on the project.
«We thank the University leadership for the opportunity to implement our ideas and install our system in our alma mater, - said Sanjar Sarmanbetov, first-year PhD student. - I am sure the project will be an important step towards digitalization of the whole country. Our team will make every effort to justify the rendered trust».
