A combination of young enthusiasm and a serious scientific approach
Student conferences at the Faculty of Journalism always combine young enthusiasm and a serious scientific approach. But this year, the Farabi readings, for all understandable reasons, became special. Indeed, every participant was worried how students would become comfortable with the new format of the event. It turned out successful. Our participants, thanks to regular classes, preformed great online.
The section was attended by 22 people: 17 students of the 2,3 and 4 grades, one graduate student and four professor. The commission, composed of Lozhnika O.P., Belgaraeva A., Buenbaeva Z., carefully studied all the works. Noda L.P. supported students and helped the commission. The topics of speeches were very diverse and relevant. The history of Kazakh journalism was covered (Murat S. The story of the Alash Horde in the print media: evolutionary development; M. Sotnikova. Main topics in G. Belger's journalism).
Traditionally, many publications were devoted to online publications (Kozhabek K. How trolls manipulate the media; Danilovskaya A. Specific design and layout of online media using the online publications The Steppe, Vlast and Manshuq; Mukhametkali A. A new trend in media development: journalism; Seliverstova S Blogging: a modern aspect; Matrunina M. Printed or Internet publications: whose audience has a larger interactive; Tolkacheva S. Analysis of the transition of modern novice journalists to social networks and the development of their journalism; Chevgan V. Analysis of publications of news portals Kazakhstan for relevance).
Due attention was also paid to the theoretical aspects of journalism (Arsenenko I. Illustration in periodicals: functions, types and characteristics of influence on the reader; Bukibaev A. Factors of journalistic material; Sarsenova D. Stylistics and its tasks; Kabduahit T. News coverage on Kazakhstan television channels; Nurgalieva S. Editorial activity of a journalist). Of great interest was the presentation by 1st-year undergraduate Arenova A., “Mobilized Media to Combat COVID-19,” primarily, of course, because of its relevance.
Having examined and listened to the scientific work of students, the section commission decided to submit for the award:
I place – Kozhabek K. How trolls manipulate the media.
II place – Arenova A. Mobilized media to combat COVID-19
II place – Arsenenko A. Illustration in periodicals: functions, types and features of influence on the reader
III place – Matrunina M. Printed or Internet publications: whose audience has a greater interactive
III place – Tolkacheva S. Analysis of the transition of modern novice journalists to social networks and the development of their journalism.
Many scientific studies will be continued, will form the basis of thesis projects and will be useful to students in their practical work.
