AL-FARABI'S LEGACY IS THE BASIS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF FUTURE GENERATIONS
International childre's day 2020 was marked by an International scientific and methodological workshop dedicated to the philosophy of al-Farabi in the context of culture, language and literature in honor of the 1150th anniversary of the great scientist and educator of the East. The event was organized under the aegis of the "Akhanov readings XXIII" by the Department of General linguistics and European languages. 47 specialists from Almaty, Taraz, London and Istanbul took part in the workshop.
The date of the workshop is also symbolic because we are all children of our outstanding ancestors and develop as individuals and professionals thanks to their creative heritage. As Isaac Newton said: "If I saw further than others, it was because I stood on the shoulders of giants..." Abu Nasir Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Ibn Tarhan Ibn Uzlag al-Farabi at-Turki was just such a giant of thought and science in the field of philosophy, mathematics, linguistics, music theory. Born in 870 in a city called Farab (now Otrar), al-Farabi belonged to the privileged strata of the Turks, as evidenced by the word "Tarkhan" in his full name. In Farab, he received an initial education and touched the world of science. he was given the treatises of outstanding authors of the ancient era, which filled the second richest Otrar library of that time after the Alexandrian library.
Within the workshop, speakers presented interesting papers on various topics relevant to modern linguistics. It was pleasant to note the high level of undergraduates who demonstrated thorough knowledge and progressive ideas.
It is extremely difficult to overestimate the significance of such events dedicated to the legacy of al -Farabi. After all, even the scientific audience is still not sufficiently aware of the works and achievements of the great fellow-countryman of Kazakhstani people, not to mention the mass public.
