Academician O. N. Trubachev: "Epoch and personality"

Each era is a certain period of time in the mankind history and represented by outstanding personalities who bring great discoveries and ideas to our world, that give rise to the beginning of something new in our civilization. Our history knows many outstanding people who glorified their era and country, thanks to their work, the results of which still find their practical application in modern living conditions.
Such outstanding personalities include the famous Soviet and Russian linguist-Slavist, lexicographer, Doctor of Philology, Oleg Nikolaevich Trubachev. Trubachev is a legend in the field of philology. He can rightfully be called an outstanding personality of the XX and XXI centuries. He is an author of numerous publications in the field of Slavic studies, lexicography and comparative historical linguistics. O.N. Trubachev’s scientific works are studied not only in Russia, but abroad, as well. His contribution to the etymology of the Slavic languages ​​is invaluable and significant. As V.N. Toporov, a famous Russian linguist, said “Oleg Nikolaevich Trubachev is the whole era in linguistics. It was his activity in the field of etymology that made a great revolution in understanding the objectives of this part of linguistics. "
On October 23, 2020, the Faculty of Philology and World Languages ​​of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, together with the multidisciplinary scientific and innovation center "Glossa", the Kazakhstan Public Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (KazTRL) held an international scientific round-table discussion dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Oleg Nikolaevich Trubachev within the framework of the scientific and educational project: "Epoch and Personality". The event was held online on ZOOM platform.
The moderator of the scientific event was the Doctor of Philology, Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, N.Zh. Shaimerdenova. The President of KazTRL, Doctor of Philology, Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, E.D. Suleimenova opened the scientific event. Prof. Suliemenova emphasized the importance of this scientific eventin the field of the study of Russian language. In her speech She said about N.O. Trubachev’s role as a founder of the new scientific direction in the field of etymology.
The honor of opening an international scientific discussion was also given to N.O. Trubachev’s student, Candidate of Philological Sciences, the leading employee of V.V. Vinogradov Institute of Russian Languages of the Russian Academy of Sciences, A.K. Shaposhnikov. Then the floor was given to Professor V.I. Annushkin, the Honored Professor of A.S. Pushkin State Institute of Russian Language. The welcoming part of the event ended with a speech by M.S. Krutova, Doctor of Philology, Chief Palaeographer of the Manuscript Department of the Russian State Library. During her speech prof. Krutova showed the library hall which contains all publications and books written by the academician N.O. Trubachev .
Then the organizers showed a video about the Museum named after O.N. Trubachev in Volgograd, his hometown.
Further, the participants of the discussion presented their reports. The students of the specialty "Philology" of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University expressed the words of gratitude to the organizers of the round-table discussion. At the end of the event, the organizers held a  panel  discussion of the important issues in the field of Russian philology.
