NATIONAL JOURNALISM: RESEARCH AND PROBLEMS OF EDUCATIO
On October 29, 2020 at 11.00, an online conference "NATIONAL JOURNALISM: RESEARCH AND PROBLEMS OF EDUCATION" has been held in the E. Shaimerdenov auditorium of the faculty of journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in honor of the 70th anniversary of Namazaly Omashevich Omashev, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Director of the Institute of Journalistic Research.
The conference hosted a presentation of a book dedicated to Namazal Omashevich, published by the Academic Council of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi in the framework of the series "Onegeli omir". There will also be a special exhibition of the scientist's work and a photo exhibition.
The event has been attended by the Union of Writers and Journalists of Kazakhstan, heads of national media and famous journalists, public and state figures, foreign researchers, scientists and teaching staff.

Namazaly Omashev was born on January 19, 1950 in the village of Oytal, Merkinsky district, Zhambyl region. He is Doctor of Philology, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Kazakhstan and the Academy of Journalism of Kazakhstan. Namazaly Omashev is a member of the World Organization for Mass Communication and Journalism UNESCO ORBICOM, the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan and the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan. He was honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2004), laureate of the Prize of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of mass media (2007), National Prize "Urker" (2019).
He was editor and senior editor of Kazakh Radio (1974-1977); Lecturer at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (1977–1979), senior lecturer (1979–1986), associate professor (1986–1992), head of the department of radio journalism, professor (1993–1995); Member of UNESCO ORBICOM (1995); Dean of the Faculty of Journalism (1995-2001); Head of Public Relations and Journalism, UNESCO (1996-2009); Chairman of the Dissertation Council on Journalism (1996-2001); Vice-rector of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (2001-2008), Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov (2010-2011), Head of the Department of Printing and Publishing (2011-2015), Professor of Public Relations (2015-2019), Director of the Institute of Journalism of the L.N. Eurasian National University Gumilyov since 2009.
