President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called on all citizens to be vaccinated against covid, noting that this is our civic duty. KazNU unanimously supported the President's appeal and reacted positively to vaccination. Kulkazira Baltabayeva, executive director of the Alumni Association of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, who was first vaccinated, said: “I read the vaccination notice and did not hesitate to ask them to add me to the list. After all, this is a very necessary step to prevent the disease. The last time I got the flu shot, I never got sick. I still strongly believe in vaccination. This is a very important decision not only for me, but also for my loved ones".
Kanatbek Mganov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Natural Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Acting the first vice-rector of KazNU, urged all Kazakhstanis not to refuse vaccination. “Today public opinion is divided, and the question is whether we need a vaccine or not. Be sure to get vaccinated! There is no other alternative. I have done research on the effectiveness of vaccines to cure any disease in the history of medicine. Vaccinations are the result of cutting-edge medical ideas. Tips and other myths are spreading on social media these days. You do't have to believe him. Vaccination saved humanity from smallpox, plague and other serious pandemics, and after vaccination, the disease did not recur. Therefore, I urge all citizens to get vaccinated! Better not to have two opinions on this. Vaccination is recommended whenever possible. First of all, you need to think about the health of your loved ones, ”said Kanatbek Manov.
According to the vice-rector of KazNU Mehmet Arslan, vaccination is a great responsibility before society. “As a vice-rector, I often go on business trips. I meet a lot of people at various events. Depending on my position, I feel responsible for others. I immediately decided to get vaccinated. We all need to be vaccinated for the well-being of both students and teachers. It is necessary to feel the utmost responsibility, especially in the field of education, and to use the opportunities provided by the state".
At the moment, 50 vaccinations have been made at the KazNU Medical Center. The next stream will supply 600 vaccines. It is planned to fully cover volunteers with vaccinations.
It should be noted that Sputnik V is one of the first three registered vaccines in the world with an efficacy of over 90%. Its effectiveness was 91.6%, which was obtained after testing 19,866 volunteers. Kazakhstan became the 27th country in the world to register a vaccine. Vaccination against coronavirus infection in the country has been launched since February 1.
The vaccine "Gam-COVID-Vac" or "Sputnik V", developed by the Nikolai Gamaley Scientific Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, is administered twice every 3 weeks to enhance the immune response. The first vaccine is based on 26 adenovirus serotypes, while the second is based on 5 serotypes. Vaccination is voluntary. Every citizen has the right to choose. Voluntary decision-making and preventive measures are currently the only way to get rid of the disease.
