Curatorial hour devoted to Olzhas Suleimenov
On May 19 2021, a curatorial hour was held with the 2nd-year students majoring in «Russian language and Literature», dedicated to Olzhas Suleimenov, the Kazakh poet, linguist, public and political figure, who is celebrating his 85th anniversary this year. He is a world-class personality, a great poet who has become the pride of the nation. Olzhas Suleimenov burst into the poetic orbit as quickly as the first man into space. A little-known reporter of the newspaper «Kazakhstanskaya Pravda» won a wide readership by writing a poem «Earth, bow to Man!» about Yu. Gagarin’s fligh. Since this event, his bright and temperamental poetry has found its many admirers in many parts of our planet. From the very first steps in literature, he praises freedom of thought and defends the truth. Through his work and creativity the poet teaches us to respect our ancestors, to be aware of our responsibility to our descendants. Today, he is faithful to his beliefs and the civic responsibility of the artist for his word. During the event, a presentation about Olzhas Omarovich’s life and work was shown, students watched an archive video with the poet's performances, and adviser Sayahmet Salika read an excerpt from the poem «Earth, Bow to Man!».
