The Faculty of Philology is one of the oldest and largest faculties of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which annually trains over 500 students who receive fundamental knowledge in the field of philology.
The Faculty graduates qualified bachelors, masters and PhD doctors in the fields of Turkic Studies, Pedagogical Education, Philology, Linguistics, Literature, Translation and Translation Studies. The two-degree education of undergraduates and doctoral students in the areas of Pedagogical Education (RUDN), Philology (RUDN) and Linguistics (MGIMO, NUUz) is being implemented.
The departments’ professors, doctors and candidates of sciences are actively engaged in scientific activities, have completed internships in leading universities of the country and abroad. The Faculty runs numerous projects and clubs, such as Russian World Center, Translation Center, Center of Russian Language and Culture, Laboratory "Kazakh language: social and psycholinguistic experimental training", Laboratory of Sociolinguistics, practice and Theory of Translation, Scientific and Methodological Center "Linguoarna", Center for the Study of Kazakh Folklore and Literature named after Zhambyl and many others.
The Faculty fruitfully cooperates with leading universities and scientific institutes abroad.
