KAZNU EXPANDS COOPERATION WITH THE MAIN UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA

vThe rector of the State Islamic University named after Al-Farabi visited the Kazakh National University. Sultan Syarif Kasim in Riau (Indonesia). At a meeting with the leadership of KazNU, held during the visit, a Memorandum of cooperation was signed, which determined the directions and prospects for further partnership.
Welcoming the guest of honor, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev thanked the Rector of the State Islamic University named after him. Sultan Sharif Kasim Riau for a personal visit.


The head of the University stressed that KazNU has a rich experience of scientific and educational cooperation with foreign universities. More than 500 international cooperation agreements have been signed with leading universities and institutes, joint educational programs and scientific and innovative projects are being implemented, including with universities in Indonesia. As part of the Exchange Agreement, 5 students from Indonesia study at our university in the following specializations: international law, international relations, economics and management.
"In addition to the exchange of students, internships, leading scientists are actively involved in the framework of the program "Attracting foreign specialists to universities of Kazakhstan", for lectures and scientific guidance, – said the Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev. "KazNU is ready to support all initiatives to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas of education and science."


In response, the rector of the State Islamic University named after Thanking Sultan Syarif Kasim for the warm welcome, he spoke about the activities of the university, which he heads. Founded in 2005, the Pekanbaru State Islamic Institute was renamed and named after Sultan Syarif Qasim, who was a national wrestler from Riau. It has over 32 thousand students, including 168 foreign students from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, etc.The guest of honor expressed interest in strengthening ties with the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
"Our interest in the activities of KazNU is not accidental. The name Al-Farabi is as important and dear to us as it is in your country. He is a great philosopher, sage, musician, who stood at the origins of Islamic law. The name of Al-Farabi is well known and revered in Indonesia," the guest of honor stressed.


During the meeting, the parties discussed areas of further cooperation, such as: exchange of employees and university teachers; organization of advanced training courses for teaching staff; development and implementation of joint educational programs, including double-degree programs; organization of academic meetings and symposiums; joint research activities, etc.
At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of cooperation was signed between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the State Islamic University named after him. Sultan Syarif Kasim.
During the visit, a delegation from Indonesia visited the KazNU campus: The Keremet Research Center, the Al-Farabi Scientific Library, the Higher School of Economics and Business, Al-Farabi Business School, the museum and the Situational Management Center.
