A FOUNDER AND CEO OF QS NUNZIO QUACQUARELLI: KAZNU IS THE BEST UNIVERSITY IN CENTRAL ASIA

Founder and CEO of QS Nunzio Quacquarelli visited the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and congratulated the staff of the university on their success. The KazNU has been included for the first time in the QS rating of the Asian region of universities and took 44^th place. Moreover, KazNU occupies the first position in the "QS Asia University Rankings 2023: Central Asia".

The meeting in the scientific library of Al-Farabi with the guests of honor – the founder of QS Nunzio Quacquarelli and the regional director of QS S.V. Hristolyubov gathered representatives of the leadership, faculty, scientists and students of the university.

In his speech the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev briefly told about the most important milestones of guest’s of honor activities. Mr. Nunzio Quacquarelli is known as the creator of the most authoritative QS rating in the world. Before runnig his own business, he worked in the field of strategic consulting in the UK and Italy. Further he founded the non-profit foundation QS Education Trust, and a year later developed the QS World University Rankings.

In 2010 Mr. Quacquarelli was selected by Diversity MBA Magazine in the USA as one of the "50 Best Business Leaders under 50", and since 2014 he has been co-chair of the Reimagine Education Awards. He is the winner of the Glockner Prize in Management, also Mr. Quacquarelli is recognized as an authority in the field of management of business schools and universities around the world. As one of the four creators of the World University Ranking, launched in 2004 he is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Advanced Management Studies from Wharton. A year later, he established the QS Education Trust, providing scholarships to socially responsible business leaders of the future.

In turn, Mr. Nunzio Quacquarelli thanked for the warm welcome, highly appreciated the advantages of the campus, the equipment of the Al-Farabi scientific library. In his speech, he shared his own success story, briefly telling about the history of the founding of the company QS.

"Since the creation of the rating, we have been guided by a high mission, which lies in the motivation of people to improve their knowledge and quality of life. Students in the UK, Central Asia, the USA – all over the world are united by the desire to improve their lives through knowledge, academic mobility, and we give them this opportunity by providing comparative information about the best higher education institutions around the world," - Mr. Quacquarelli stated.

In conclusion, the CEO of QS congratulated the staff of KazNU on the significant event, wished further advancement in the QS rating. Mr. Nunzio Quacquarelli presented the head of the University Zhanseit Tuimebayev certificates confirming high positions in authoritative ratings. The guest of honor was awarded the Al-Farabi Gold Medal for a long, fruitful cooperation with the university.
